What is Shingles?

 

Shingles is a disease that causes a painful, blistering rash. It occurs in people who have had chicken pox and is a reactivation of the dormant virus. Shingles can strike at any time and it can be painful. It is more common and more serious in older adults. In fact, nearly 1 million Americans get shingles every year and about half of them are 60 years and older.

Why should I get vaccinated for shingles?
